History

In The Beginning

Oto MAD editors on Niconico Douga began introducing this song into their works around early 2008. Some of the videos in this series garnered sufficient attention around the beginning of 2009, which featured popular visual sources such as Shuzo Matsuoka and The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya.

In those early instances, the actual trigger that resulted to a substantial increase in popularity of the series was a nostalgic TV commercial movie for an energy drink in early '90s, featuring American professional wrestler Reggie Bennett. It was posted user めがー on January 16th, 2009.

SME Invention

However, almost all of the early instances were taken down from Niconico Douga in the first half of 2009 as SME is very strict to copyright infringements against their publications and since before, they have removed videos using original songs they own.

LIGT9

Oto MAD editors have attempted to solve the copyright debacle by using the transcribed version of this song, made by a user LIGT9 uploaded on September 3rd, 2009. That’s because they are allowed to post music transcriber/playing cover videos thanks to an umbrella agreement between Niwango, the company behind Niconico Douga, and music publishers, SME included.

Where We Are Now

Fortunately, subsequent videos using LIGT9's transcribed version have succeeded to avoid SME deletion.

As of May 2013, there are about 450-600 videos in Niconico Douga relating to this song.
